Another slow start to the second half saw a slight dip in production, but the Mohigans overcame some sloppy play and got back into that rhythm they found in the second quarter.

“We got complacent early in the third quarter. We came out and turned the ball over twice in a row, so I called a timeout just to get them settled,” White said.

“Overall, I thought the kids played hard. We’re taking steps in the right direction. We handled their pressure early tonight pretty well and it was nice for our young kids to get a real opportunity to see significant minutes.”

One of those young stars off the bench that made a significant impact was sophomore Syndi Clawges, who talked about her performance.

“My teammates definitely helped me tonight,” she said. “It’s never a one person show and just all of us working together allowed me to have such a good game.”

White discussed how important it was to get the younger players more minutes and the impact that Clawges had on the game.

“She’s a super athletic sophomore and had a great opportunity to help us tonight,” he said.

“She really just needs to gain confidence in her abilities and I think a game like this does that for her. And it doesn’t just stop with Sydni, we’re going to need that bench this year in several big games. Again, a game like this where they play a lot of big minutes is a good way to build their confidence as well.”

While Clawges led all scorers with 16, the bench tallied 52 of the Mohigans’ points.
