Dave Tallman

Head Coach

Boys Varsity Basketball

Dave Tallman enters his 4th year as the Morgantown High head basketball coach.  In 3 seasons, Coach Tallman has led the Mohigans to a 67-12 record including a 27-0 2016 campaign.  The 2016 WV AAA State Championship was the first in school history.  The Mohigans also won Back to Back AAAAA OVAC Championships in 2015 and 2016.  Coach Tallman was presented the Van Meter West Virginia Coach of the Year Award which honors the best high school coach in the state for all sports.  He was also named the USA Today WV Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.  

Eight student/athletes have gone on to play college athletics.  

Prior to Morgantown, Tallman was the Head Coach and Athletic Director at St. Mary's Ryken High School.  Ryken was a member of the prestigious Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.  At Ryken, Tallman won 95 games including setting a school record with 18 wins twice.  He sent 30+ athletes on to the next level.  Eight of those players went on to play professional basketball; including John Flowers (WVU, Europe) and Treveon Graham (VCU, Charlotte Hornets).  

He attended Wheeling Jesuit University and was a member of the Cardinals basketball team. In High School, Tallman was a captain at Magnolia High School for the 2000 AA State Champions.  

Coach Tallman has a Bachelor's in Secondary Math Education and a Masters in Business Administration. 

Coach Tallman resides in Morgantown with his wife, Natalie, and two children, Tre (4) and Brooklyn (1).
